Each Icon is to be used simply as a general guideline for the relative performance or character strengths of each pump represented and not as a complete definition of the pumps capability.

Pump Type Iconology
A centrifugal pump is a rotodynamic pump that uses a rotating impeller to create flow by the addition of energy to a fluid.
A progressive cavity pump is a positive displacement pump that transfers fluid by means of the progress, through the pump, of small, fixed shape cavities as its rotor is turned.
A screw pump is a positive displacement pump that uses one or several screws to move fluids or viscous fluids along the screw(s) axis.

The Peripheral pump produces large head at comparatively small flow rates while having an ability to entrained transport gas es without slowing or impedeing the liquid flow medium. Solids in the Pump Medium should be avoided.
Lobe pumps are similar to external gear pumps in operation in that fluid flows around the interior of the casing. The lobes do not make contact.
Auger Pumps work with an auger in a hopper that moves large product such as spent grains. Progressive Cavity Pumps use Augers in their designs.
Pump Impeller has Clockwise Rotation on Shaft for operation.
Pump Impeller has Counter Clockwise Rotation on Shaft for operation.
Pump can be run in either direction for flow.
Mechanical Seals use both rigid and flexible contact elements at a sealing interface that slide on each other, allowing a rotating element to pass through a sealed case.
Double Mechanical Seals use both rigid and flexible contact with a barrier liquid in the cavity between the two seals that is pressurized.
Magnetic drive centrifugal pumps have no seals and are leak proof. This makes the pumps ideal for pumping hazardous, toxic, explosive, aggressive or valuable fluids.
Standard Pump Seals come as Single or Double Spring models with two rotating hard surfaces held in place by spring pressure such carbide or ceramics as a sealing agent.
A Pump with a built-in electric motor with the motor drive and pump impeller on the same shaft.
Braided synthetic or natural fibers used as a sealing agent around pump shafts that is excellent for general service applications.
A single-stage pump has one dual suction impeller designed to take water in both sides of the impeller providing discharge flows to all discharge gates.
Multiple impellers operating side by side on a common shaft by design, which gives the operator a choice of selecting a volume or pressure option from the pump.

Pump in its current design is designed for a vertical mounting (upright).
A pump that mixes air with water. The pump then removes the air and moves water only, just like a standard centrifugal pump allowing for limited priming.

Polyvinyl chloride: Used in pumps where corrosive materials are present.
Polyethylene: Standard strength plastic used in pump construction where corrosive materials are present.
High strength plastic used for its solvents and acids resistance capability.

Teflon based plastic. Useful for resistance to salt spray or other outside elements.

alloyed metal that is used for pump bodies and other pump components due to its low cost to strength ratio.
Iron and Carbon combination that allows for high strength components from pump bodies to impellers. Steel is one of the most common components of pumps today.
Does not corrode, rust or stain with water. High strength steel used for wetted components of pumps such as shafts and impellers. Also used in sanitary pumping applications.

Stainless Steel with a unique mixture of ore components for added strength and resistance to chemical attack.
Marine Grade Stainless Steel used for the most difficult of pumping applications and component manufacturing.
Stainless Steel with an extremely low carbon content. Good for pumping uses where pitting occurs. A good steel for hygienic applications.
904L Stainless Steel is a non-stabilised low carbon high alloy austenitic stainless steel. The addition of copper to this steel gives it greatly improved resistance to strong reducing acids.
